Large output sand pump as one of the big slurry pump types, is also the simple sand pump. This sand pump is commonly used in pumping systems that moves sand deposits to long distance. Large output sand suction pumps are available in 16 inch, 18 inch, 20 inch, 22 inch, 24 inch, and 26-inch sizes. The output ranges from 1,000 tons to 3,000 tons. Usually this sand pump is used to pump the sediment from the river or the sea to the delivery boat. Because of its large output and high power, it is the main way for dredging sand from the river.
1. Customer selection process
One of our customer from Qatar, ordered the large output sand pump in July 2019. The customer required that the sand capacity be no less than 600 tons per hour and the discharge distance should be 200 meters. It needed to be equipped with diesel engine and manual power take off. Initially, our engineers recommended the Weichai 6160 diesel m engine for the customer. However, the customer considered the cost and hoped to use a relatively high cost performance engine. Therefore, according to the customer’s expectations, our engineers chose the Huadong diesel engine for the large output sand suction pump. Due to the high power, if the sand pump and the diesel engine are directly connected by a belt, the diagonal tension of the belt will be large, thereby damaging the clutch and the diesel crankshaft. So the engineers designed a transition shaft and added two bearing housings to the original shaft. It will not damage the crankshaft of the diesel engine even if the diagonal tension is too large.

3. Large output sand pump test results
On August 12th, our engineers conducted the final testing of the sand pump in our workshop. During the no-load test, the large output suction pump operated smoothly, meeting all the required indicators. The engine exhibited stable sound, minimal vibration, and smooth gear operation. Following the successful no-load test, the large output sand pump was transported to the water conservancy laboratory for a load test. The results of the experiment confirmed that the sand pump data met the design requirements, and the engine displacement and noise levels were also within the acceptable range. Subsequently, the workshop issued the certification, allowing the sand pump to leave the factory. This certification affirms the pump’s quality and compliance with the specified standards.
4. How to choose the large output sand pump?
