The large capacity dredge pump is a robust and powerful sand suction pump designed for river cleaning, sand dredging, and mining operations. 1. The difference between PNS and GN
Both the PNS series and GN series of the large capacity dredge pump offer the same flow capacity, differing primarily in terms of pump head. In Africa, the PNS series is extensively utilized on sand dredgers for sand suction and river dredging. The total discharge distance typically ranges from 300 to 500 meters, depending on the specific working conditions and sand source. In China, on the other hand, the GN series enjoys widespread popularity. This dredge pump is commonly employed as a booster pump for long-distance discharge. It is capable of achieving maximum discharge distances ranging from 700 to 1000 meters, meeting the demands of various projects in China’s dredging industry.
First, as the main suction pump, the large capacity dredge pump will be setup on the dredger hull or a working platform, connected with the suction hose directly to dredge. For these types, the position of the pump is better to be lower than the water level. Because if the water level is higher, the water can backflow to the pump. When the water in the pump case is high than the half of the pump impeller, the pump can start to work smoothly. If the pump position is higher than the water level, it will need a water pump to fill the sand pump with water from the river or the other water source.
Second, as the booster pump, the large capacity dredge pump will be setup on the land or others platform. The inlet connects with the discharge pipe from the dredge pump, booster pump or other equipments, and then, discharges the sand, mud and other mixture to the next booster pump set or the stock pile. To be as the booster pump, the most importable thing is the position of the pump, or we can call it head. The booster pump requests that the pump head should be enough, especially in a project with two booster pumps or more. If not, when the pump is working, the discharge distance won’t meet the requirements.
For example, there was one of our customer from Lebanon, he wanted to dredge sand for the river. There was 5 dredger sets in his working site. The dredging depth is 15m, the discharge distance is 2000 m. And according to the other requests, such as flow capacity, particle size, we recommend the large capacity dredge pump 300 GN – 50 pump set for him. But because of the capacity and discharge requests, only one pump couldn’t finish the project. So, in the quotation, we recommended the 3 pump sets for one dredger. The first 350 GN pump set was as the main dredge pump which would be equipped on the dredger hull. The second and the third pump sets were as the booster pump to achieve the long discharge. The position of the two pump sets also couldn’t be placed randomly. It needs to be determined after calculation, such as pipe resistance, pump head, flow rate and so on.
